Rosacea: Protocol Treatments and Steps to Take

There are no cures for Roasacea but steps to take to manage and control it. Here you will find a guide with a recommended treatment protocol to treat and control Rosacea symptoms.

Learn what Rosacea triggers are. Many people with rosacea find that certain factors, or triggers, make their symptoms worse. Keeping a written record of what seems to make the rosacea worse may help identify triggers.

Triggers vary among individuals, but some of the common ones are:

  • Exposure to sunlight.
  • Emotional stress.
  • Hot or cold weather.
  • Strong winds.
  • Strenuous exercise.
  • Alcohol consumption.
  • Hot baths.
  • Spicy foods.
  • Foods or beverages hot in temperature.

Treat skin gently. Wash your face with cleansers made for sensitive skin, and moisturize regularly. Avoid exfoliants and products that contain alcohol.

Protect skin from the sun. Use an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen formulated for the face every day. This will protect your skin from broad-spectrum UV and visible light.

Treatment recommendation:

Microneedling can be used in cases of rosacea, but caution is advised, as the procedure can cause increased inflammation and redness. Our goal with the therapy is to:
Improve microcirculation, which helps reduce stagnant areas.
Strengthen blood vessels, reducing their fragility.
Increase the skin's barrier function by stimulating collagen production.

It is recommended to use a minimum needle length of 0.25 to 0.3 mm in the superficial layers of the skin to avoid excessive inflammation. Deep microneedling (1.0 mm or more) is not recommended, especially in the presence of pronounced telangiectasias.
